Filipino fashion designers have made waves on the international stage for the past years in various fashion shows and beauty pageants and they were once again in the spotlight in the recent Miss Universe preliminary competition.
Aside from Francis Libiran who dressed up the country’s bet Beatrice Luigi Gomez, a number of the candidates and judges wore designs by the country’s best designers.
Michael Cinco, who dressed celebrities and queens like Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach and Jennifer Lopez had three muses in his creations – Miss Universe 2016 Iris Mittenaere, Bollywood superstar Urvashi Rautela, and Miss USA 2021 Elle Smith.
Dubai-based designer Ezra Santos also showcased his creation via South Africa’s Lalela Mswane.
Another Dubai-based designer, Garimon Escandor Roferos dressed up Chantel O’Brian of the Bahamas.
Ukraine’s representative  Anna Neplyakh wore a gown by Dubai-based designer Ryan Pacioles.
Kenya’s bet Roshanara Ebrahim turned to Jian Lasala for her preliminary evening gown.
Designer Louis Pangilinan also got to dress three representatives – Great Britain’s Emma Collingridge, Malta’s Jade Cini, and Honduras’ Rose Meléndez.
The top 16 will be known tomorrow morning as they vie for the title of Miss Universe in Eilat, Israel.
