Candidates who have a body to die for and a beauty that is striking are in demand in the modern pageant world. Having a good background and credentials would really help a candidate to be chosen as one of the winners. Arienne Calingo is an example of a girl with a strong credentials being able to obtain her Master’s degree in International Education Policy at the Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts and served as a consultant for UNESCO and developed a course on diversity, equity and inclusion. She also became a lecturer of Arabic at the Holy Angel University.
The reason why she joined Miss World Philippines pageant for the second time after being successful in her first attempt where she finished 1st runner to then Miss World Philippines 2016, Catriona Gray is because she really loves the emphasis of the “Beauty with a Purpose program”; she believes that the organization is not simply looking for a woman with physical beauty but a woman with a mindset to serve others. She also shared that her experiences around the world and her commitment to her advocacy especially to education sets her apart from the other candidates.
Leaders in Education and Diversity or LEAD is her advocacy this year because this creates informal education programs for the street children in her hometown, Angeles City. She shared that there are more 1,500 registered street children in her hometown and as an educator who believes that education is a basic right, Arienne wants to advocate that every child – regardless of socioeconomic status or ability-deserves the right to have an education.
