QUEZON CITY, Philippines — After five years of not holding pageants, Miss Teen Philippines crowned its new queen: Kagay-anon student Nikki de Moura.
Competing against 30 other aspirants, the Cagayan de Oro native was hailed as the most beautiful teen in the Philippines.
Staged at the New Frontier Theater in Quezon City on Wednesday night, Miss Teen Philippines sought to find a teenage ambassador that would help promote “global readiness through education.” Teenage girls from all over the Philippines joined the pageant in the hopes of bagging the crown for their hometown.
De Moura’s court include first runner-up Patricia Beerda (Western Visayas), second runner-up Nicole Borromeo (Cebu), third runner-up Mikki Barcela (Albay), and fourth runner-up Joanna Kalkschmidt (Iloilo).
Nicole Villar, who won the pageant five years ago when she was a 15-years girl, crowned her successor Nikki de Moura.
The new owners of the pageant, Youth Empowerment Through Education (YETE) Foundation breathed life to the pageant after acquiring rights from its original owners.
Miss Teen Philippines seeks to become the Philippines’ biggest search for teenagers who can be role models to society. The contest takes pride that it is not a run-of-the-mill beauty pageant due to its high standard rarely scene in beauty tilts elsewhere.
The 2019 Miss Teen Philippines coronation ceremonies will be shown on ABS-CBN on Sunday, May 19.
