On her Instagram post, March 14th, Teresita Ssen Marquez, or widely known as Winwyn Marquez has confirmed her non-participation at this year’s Binibining Pilipinas pageant.
The first Reina Hispanoamericana of the country, who won in 2017, Winwyn has finally put an end to the rumors of her joining this year’s Bb.Pilipinas. This could have been the second time she joined the prestigious pageant since her 1st participation last 2015.
Marquez said on her post that she is very thankful to all the people who shared their kind words and comments for the past few months asking and encouraging her to join this year. She then confirmed that she will not be participating this year because of her work commitments and upcoming projects under her current network. “BBP [Bb. Pilipinas] has strict rules that you cannot have existing contracts when joining,” Marquez emphasized.
Her post is showing her dismay of not being able to join this year, despite always wanting to join, but realized that she cannot do all of them together in one setting. “It is necessary for us to focus in one thing to be able to succeed and do things well,” she added in Filipino.
She shared how she commits herself in everything that she does, by giving her 101% commitment- that is why she is choosing her career for now. Marquez mentioned how fortunate she was to be able to share her passion through competing in a pageant and bring home the crown with honor although she sees this as a hard thing to do and be able to share the world the talents and skills of every Filipino. “I will never forget my experience as first Filipina Reina Hispanoamericana and for the lifelong friendships I made along the way,” she pointed. She mentioned one of her jobs which is to continue building her community engagement program for children in local communities. She ended her post asking the people to support her career path despite it’s no longer on the stage of a pageant.
