(UPDATED) After two years of waiting, Madame Tussauds Singapore formally unveiled Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray’s wax figurine on Wednesday, March 30.
Catriona was present at the unveiling, where she discussed the making of the wax figure. The famous lava gown created by Mak Tumang was chosen for the figurine.
Aside from the lava gown, it also had an ear cuff similar to the one she wore in the pageant in 2018.
In an Instagram post after the unveiling, Catriona explained some minor changes made to the figurine.
“The small differences on the neckline are to hide the ‘seams’ where the head of the wax figure fit onto the body! The lava gowns mesh base presented a challenge but Mak masterfully worked around these!” she said.
“We chose the “final walk” look from @missuniverse sans MU sash and crown because the interactive concept is to ‘LavaWalk’ with me. Also as the only Filipino in MT Singapore, it brings me so much pride to have the PHILIPPINES sash front and center.”
Catriona is the latest Filipino public figure to get her wax figurine. She joins Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach and boxing champion and presidential aspirant Manny Pacquiao in the growing list of personalities who had their own figurines.
Pia and Manny’s figurines are currently on display in Madame Tussauds Hong Kong.
