After months of challenges amid the pandemic, Cebu City’s Beatrice Luigi Gomez emerged as the winner of Miss Universe Philippines which was held in Bohol on Thursday, September 30.
Bea won over 27 candidates for the right to represent the Philippines in the Miss Universe pageant to be held in Israel in December
But before Miss Universe Philippines, Bea rose to fame thanks to her participation in the Binibining Cebu pageant. Here’s a look at Bea’s journey from Binibining Cebu to Miss Universe Philippines 2021.

Binibining Cebu journey

In 2019, Bea became one of the candidates of Binibining Cebu. She represented San Fernando.
Binibining Cebu is involved in various charity, educational, and cultural projects, working with the Bb Sugbu Charity Foundation, Inc. and Sacred Heart School for Boys Batch 1985 Foundation, Inc.

Bea won over 50 candidates for the Binibining Cebu 2020. She succeeded Steffi Aberasturi, who incidentally is this year’s Miss Universe Philippines 2021 2nd runner-up.

Before joining Miss Universe Philippines, Bea, who is a social development worker and Navy reservist, also works as a model under Origin Management. Some of the models include Miss Universe Philippines 2019 Gazini Ganados, Miss Earth 2014 Jamie Herrell, and Tracy Maureen Perez.

Bea, who trained with Aces and Queens, was one of the 100 aspirants who took on several online challenges until she was announced as part of the Top 30. Check the photos and videos from several sponsor shoots and the preliminary competition.

The pageant glow

Bea was considered by many as a dark horse. But on Thursday, she won over heavy favorites for the title.
