On Saturday, November 6, the Philippines woke up to another good news. Maureen Montagne was crowned as Miss Globe 2021 in Tirana, Albania, the second Binibining Pilipinas queen to win this year.
The 28-year-old Filipino-French model and pageant veteran won over 49 candidates in the pageant. Her win comes after fellow Binibini queen Cindy Obeñita won the Miss Intercontinental title in Egypt last October 30.
It was also a sweet victory for Maureen who joined several pageants and was always a semifinalist or runner-up.
Let’s take a quick look at Maureen’s pageant journey:
Mutya ng Pilipinas 2013
Maureen first competed in Mutya ng Pilipinas 2013 where she represented the Filipino community of Arizona. She placed 1st runner-up.
Miss Arizona USA and Miss USA 2015
In 2015, Maureen competed in Miss Arizona USA and won the state pageant. She went on to compete in Miss USA 2015 where she was a finalist.
Oklahoma’s Olivia Jordan won the title and later became Miss Universe 2015 2nd runner-up to the Philippines’ own Pia Wurtzbach.
Miss World America 2017
In 2017, Maureen decided to give another shot in pageantry by competing in Miss World America. She was crowned as 1st runner-up to the winner.
Century Tuna Superbods, Miss World Philippines, and Miss Eco International
Maureen came back to the Philippines to try modeling. She won the Century Tuna Superbods competition and joined Miss World Philippines, where she got the Miss Eco International title.
In her stint in Egypt, Maureen had a chance to win the crown and duplicate the success of Cynthia Thomalla. She won 1st runner-up.
In 2020 as she was about to compete in Binibining Pilipinas, the Miss Eco International winner was dethroned and was offered to her. She declined the offer saying she will pursue her Binibini stint.
Binibining Pilipinas 2021
After a year of delay, Maureen and her Binibining Pilipinas sisters finally got a chance to compete in the pageant. At 28, Maureen was only qualified for one title – Miss Globe Philippines and succeeded Leren Bautista.
