On Saturday, November 6, the Philippines woke up to another good news. Maureen Montagne was crowned as Miss Globe 2021 in Tirana, Albania, the second Binibining Pilipinas queen to win this year.
The 28-year-old Filipino-French model and pageant veteran won over 49 candidates in the pageant. Her win comes after fellow Binibini queen Cindy Obeñita won the Miss Intercontinental title in Egypt last October 30.
It was also a sweet victory for Maureen who joined several pageants and was always a semifinalist or runner-up.
Let’s take a quick look at Maureen’s pageant journey:

Mutya ng Pilipinas 2013

Oklahoma’s Olivia Jordan won the title and later became Miss Universe 2015 2nd runner-up to the Philippines’ own Pia Wurtzbach.

Miss World America 2017

In 2017, Maureen decided to give another shot in pageantry by competing in Miss World America. She was crowned as 1st runner-up to the winner.

Century Tuna Superbods, Miss World Philippines, and Miss Eco International

Maureen came back to the Philippines to try modeling. She won the Century Tuna Superbods competition and joined Miss World Philippines, where she got the Miss Eco International title.
In her stint in Egypt, Maureen had a chance to win the crown and duplicate the success of Cynthia Thomalla. She won 1st runner-up.
In 2020 as she was about to compete in Binibining Pilipinas, the Miss Eco International winner was dethroned and was offered to her. She declined the offer saying she will pursue her Binibini stint.

Miss Globe 2021

After dozens of media interviews and training, Maureen left for Albania in October. She was consistent in the competition and even placed as a runner-up in the head-to-head challenge and Miss Bikini competition.
Filipino fans knew Maureen could win the competition but also had their worries. Will she finally be the bride in the competition? If there was any pressure, Maureen was determined to enjoy the most of her last year in the pageant scene and she did during the competition.
And enjoy she did. Maureen won the title. She was finally Miss Globe 2021.

Maureen is the second Filipina to win the Miss Globe since Binibining Pilipinas took the franchise. Ann Colis won the title back in 2015.
The country also had several runner-up placements including Nicole Manalo (3rd runner-up) in 2016, Nelda Ibe (1st runner-up) in 2017, and Leren Bautista (2nd runner-up) in 2019.
Maureen’s journey may have been long but she finally the queen that she was meant to be.
