Aya, daughter of Bb. Pilipinas Universe 1984 Desiree Verdadero was originally Bb Pilipinas 2019 1st runner-up. She took over the Miss Grand Philippines title after Samantha Lo resigned.
Aya was unable to compete due to age restrictions in the 2020 edition, leading Samantha Bernardo to compete in Thailand last March.
