Mrs. Jehza Huelar-Simon becomes First Married Reigning Queen in Binibining Pilipinas History

Jehza Huelar gets married but she gets to keep her crown.

Before Jehza Huelar submitted herself one last time for a possible title run last January 2018, she is already set to marry PJ Simon. The couple was engaged following a sweet proposal by Simon to Huelar in Boracay.

Huelar wanted to mount a one last attempt to win a crown in 2018. Much to the delight of the swelling crowd at the Araneta Coliseum last year, Jehza Huelar did not go home empty-handed. She was crowned as Binibining Pilipinas – Supranational 2018.

Even as she prepares to represent the country in the Miss Supranational pageant in Poland, she was also discreetly preparing for her wedding.

The couple agreed to set the wedding days after Jehza Huelar relinquishes her title and her crown. When Binibining Pilipinas initially set the Coronation Night on May 26, Simon and Huelar scheduled their nuptial to May 28. This is to avoid rescinding any contractual obligations and protect the relationship Huelar fostered with the pageant organization.

Much preparation and booking has been made with the date in mind. Unfortunately, Binibining Pilipinas Charities decided to move the 2019 day of reckoning to June 9. Since all the reservations, preparations and invitations all set May 28 as the day Huelar and Simon will be bound by holy matrimony, the couple decided to push through with the blessings of Mr. and Mrs. Araneta.

The turn of events accidentally made Mrs. Jehza Huelar-Simon as the only married reigning queen. With both first and second runners-up of the 2018 edition contending for a Binibining Pilipinas 2019 title, there is no one who can replace Huelar as Miss Supranational Philippines.

Even if there is technically a violation in the contract, the Aranetas likely gave Huelar their blessings allowing the queen to retain her title and her crown intact.
